Свечана трибина посвећена обележавању јубилеја

30 година издавања Међународног часописа THERMAL SCIENCE и

90 година од рођења оснивача часописа и дугогодишњег првог Главног уредника Проф. др Симеона Ока, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus.

Друштво термичара Србије као оснивач и Институт за нуклеарне науке ВИНЧА као издавач Међународног часописа THERMAL SCIENCE позивају на Свечану трибину посвећену обележавању ових јубилеја, која ће се одржати на Машинском факултету у Београду, у среду 30.09.2026. године са почетком у 11h у Библиотеци (читаоници на првом спрату).

Co-Founder and President of TermoMechanica, Inc., a small business established in 1989, incorporated in February 2001. Prof. Ostrogorsky received his Dipl. Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade (1977), MS in Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, RPI (1981), and Sc.D. in Mechanical Engineering (heat and mass transfer) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT (1986). He was a Post-doctoral associate, in Professor A.F. Witt’s Crystal Growth Laboratory, at MIT, Assistant Professor at Columbia University (1987-1992), and Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Professor Georg Muller’s Laboratory, at Universität Erlanger-Nürnberg (1991). From 1993 to 2009 he was Professor at RPI. In 2009 he moved to the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, where he is currently Professor of Materials and Aerospace Engineering. Professor Ostrogorsky was Director of the Center for Microgravity and Materials Research (CMMR), and Professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1999-2000). He was Principal Investigator (PI) of the investigations sponsored by NASA (1996-2004) and CASIS (2016-2023) with experiments conducted at the International Space Station in 2002, 2019 and 2021. Associated Editor of the Journal of Crystal Growth (2006-2019), Member of the Executive Committee of AACG (2005 to 2019), Fellow of ASME (2005-) and Associate Fellow of AIAA(2002-). Research Interests: Heat and mass transfer phenomena in materials processing. Convection and diffusion phenomena in crystal growth. Radiation heat transfer. Production of semiconductor single crystals.

The major research projects include:

• Measurements of Diffusion Coefficients of Dopants in molten Ge and Si (The DiGS Investigation), sponsored by NASA 2020 to 2025

• Crystal growth at the International Space Station: CASIS (2016-2023)

• Crystal growth at the International Space Station: CGB and SUBSA Investigation (1993 to 2004)

• Growth of wide band gap semiconductor crystals (B6P, InI) for detection of neutrons and x- rays.

• Bulk growth of piezoelectric alloys, PMNx-PT1-x at 1400 C.

• Growth of carbon single walled nanotubes (SWNTs) using the electric arc process.

• Fourier Transform Infrared Analysis (FTIR) at high temperature (up to 1420 C). Membership

Са великим задовољством вам шаљемо позивницу за прво донаторско окупљање алумниста Машинског факултета у Београду.

То је окупљање једне велике породице која броји преко 25.000 чланова, дипломираних инжењера машинства. Било би лепо да ову информацију и позив проследите свим вашим контактима, на начин који сматрате прикладним.

Following the International Conference “POWER PLANTS 2025”

– Tradition, Expertise, Science and Vision of the Future of the Energy Sector –

The Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia successfully organized this year’s edition of the international conference Power Plants 2025, held from 4 to 7 November 2025 at the “Palisad” Hotel on Zlatibor, under the patronage of the Ministry of Mining and Energy, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, the Joint Stock Company “Electric Power Industry of Serbia”, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.

The International Conference Power Plants once again lived up to its reputation as the leading regional forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of energy. This year’s event brought together experts, researchers, engineers, and representatives of industry and governmental institutions from Serbia, the region, and the world. 200 participants from 13 countries took part in the conference in various capacities, with the expected strong attendance from the region, who once again formed the majority of the participants.

The focus of Power Plants 2025 was placed on the most important topics in today’s energy sector: projects aimed at the revitalization and modernization of existing facilities, the integration of renewable energy sources into the energy mix, the development of pumped-storage hydropower plants as a key mechanism for balancing systems with an increasing share of RES, as well as the consideration of the prospects of nuclear energy as a long-term option for ensuring stable supply. Particularly notable were the sessions presenting the construction project of the new Unit 3 of the Thermal Power Plant “Kostolac B”, the insightful session dedicated to trends in the hydropower sector, and the highly engaging session on the future of nuclear technologies, featuring a significant number of speakers from Serbia and abroad.
